EPF claim settled but not credited in bank account

Hello, guys in this article I am gonna share my experience of the online EPF claim settlement process and issue with claims settled but not credited or received in a bank account. Let’s first see how to check the online EPF Claim Status!

How to check online EPF Claim Status on the EPFO website?

Here are 2 websites to check your EPF account details –
First is  UAN Website (https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in) and Second is  EPFO Website (https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemClaimStatusUAN)

 

  1. Visit the EPFO Official Website:
    Go to the official website of EPFO: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in
  2. Click on “Our Services” and Select “For Employees”:
    On the EPFO homepage, hover over the “Our Services” tab in the main menu. From the dropdown menu, select “For Employees.”
  3. Choose the “Member Passbook” Option:
    Under the “Services” section for employees, click on the “Member Passbook” option. This will take you to the Member Passbook login page.
  4. Log In to Your Account:
    You need to log in to your EPFO account to access your passbook. There are two ways to log in:
    a. Using UAN and Password: Enter your Universal Account Number (UAN) and password, along with the Captcha code. Click the “Login” button.
    b. Using Aadhaar: Alternatively, you can log in using your Aadhaar number if your UAN is linked with Aadhaar.
  5. Access Your EPF Account Details:
    Once logged in, you will be able to see your EPF account details, including your current balance, contributions, and EPF Claim Status

What’s the Timeline for online EPF Claim settlement?

The timeline for online Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) claim settlement can vary depending on various factors, including the type of claim, completeness of documentation, and the efficiency of the processing system. As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, the EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organization) introduced several initiatives to expedite the claim settlement process. Please note that these timelines might have evolved since then, and I recommend checking the official EPFO website or contacting EPFO for the most up-to-date information. As a general guideline:

Online EPF Claim Submission:
After submitting an online EPF claim through the Unified Member Portal using your UAN (Universal Account Number) and Aadhaar details, the claim details are sent to the relevant EPFO office for processing.

Claim Verification and Processing:

The EPFO office verifies the claim details, including the claimant’s eligibility, service period, and the reason for the claim (e.g., withdrawal, transfer, etc.).
The claim settlement process involves cross-verification with the employer, especially if the claim is being made before retirement.

Timeline for Settlement:
Under normal circumstances and with complete documentation, EPF claims are typically settled within 10 to 15 working days from the date of submission.

Communication of Settlement Status:
You can track the status of your online EPF claim on the Unified Member Portal using your UAN and password.
The portal will display the status of your claim as “Under Process,” “Approved,” or “Rejected.” If rejected, reasons for rejection are usually provided.

Amount Credited to Bank Account:
Once the claim is approved, the settlement amount is credited to the bank account linked to your UAN. This process may take a few additional days, depending on the bank’s processing time.

Register a Complaint with EPFO Grievance Cell Online

If you haven’t yet received your funds, the subsequent action is to register a complaint with EPFO Grievance Cell Online. Visit the EPFO Grievance Management System (EPFiGMS) portal at EPFiGMS 

You can utilize the online grievance system if you possess a UAN number. Within this platform, you can file a complaint and monitor its progress. The resolution timeframe for raised grievances is set at 30 days.
