In this article, I will guide you on how you can become a freelancer online with my personal experience. As I am doing freelancing for the last 3-4 years and earning decent money by providing Digital Services online. So in this blog, I will guide you completely on how you can start freelancing online from anywhere in the world.

Here are the steps to become a freelancer online today

Step 1: Start learning Website design & Digital Marketing. Start watching tutorials on youtube and other learning sites such as Udemy, Pluralsight’s, etc. Watch tutorials on WordPress the widely used platform by web designers and digital marketers to start their own website, blog and learn and everything in-depth, so you can apply it in creating a freelancing site.

Step 2: Work on real projects & Create a portfolio. Start reaching out to people/friends/relatives who are looking for someone to promote their business. Help them with your skills at low-cost services and once you do it you will have projects to show and get more works. Also, this will help you get more projects as people you worked for will refer you to their network.

Step 3: Create your personal portfolio site. Once you have a portfolio ready and experience to deal with the clients then you can take it to another level by creating website on platforms such as Blogspot or WordPress. I will suggest you create a website on WordPress as it will be easy for you to do marketing, SEO and optimize your site in the future. Once you are done with the website development start with marketing.

Step 4: Focus on SEO & Marketing your freelance website. Once you are done with the website part focus on Digital marketing as just creating a portfolio site will not generate leads you will have to promote your site by doing SEO and ranking organically and by doing social media marketing organic or by paid promotions.

Step 5: Creating profiles on freelance websitesYou can start creating accounts on freelance websites such as fiver, Guru, Upwork, etc and start bidding to get leads/work. Chances of getting work here are less but you can give it a try.

Step 6: Get connected with people on Linkedin. Linkedin is a huge network of professionals you can easily find people looking for someone with there requirements. You can contact them and get some freelancing works there.
